#NowWeRise – 9 Dec 2023 Day of Action

Temperatures are rising. Corporate profits are rising. Now we’re rising.

So say the Climate Justice Coalition, who are once again convening a global day of action coinciding with the UN climate talks, COP28, this year.

And we at Faith for the Climate agree wholeheartedly. We’ve just lived through the hottest summer on record. Politicians keep backtracking on climate commitments. There’s continued corporate profiteering fuelling the climate and cost of living crises.

It’s time for us to take action.

As world leaders gather for COP28 – a climate summit presided over by an oil executive – we’re coming together on 9 December to demand climate justice.

Here’s how you can get involved:

  • If you’re in London, join Christian Climate Action, Tearfund, Christian Aid and CAFOD at 11.30am in St James’s Square (at the corner where No. 5 is) for prayer. This gathering will then join a rally starting at noon outside the BP headquarters in St James Square, which will be followed by a short march to BAE systems. The gathering is ecumenical Christian-led, but people of all faiths and beliefs are welcome to join. If you have placards or banners, bring them!
  • The Climate Justice Coalition is inviting people who wish to join the National March for Palestine to march on to the City where the march will be assembling outside Bank Station from noon.
  • If you’re not in London, find your local #NowWeRise event here.
  • If you can’t join these actions in person, make your presence felt on social media – remember to use #NowWeRise #ClimateJustice #COP28 and tag us @fftcnetwork on Twitter/X.
