Ahead of COP29, with a new government in place, people of faith across the UK will gather to mark the loss and destruction caused by climate breakdown. Sign up to this event to receive information about how your faith group can join the Weekend of Worship on October 25th-27th, including interfaith reflection prompts and ways to show your support online.

Loss and damage caused by climate breakdown is a present reality for people around the world, and it is getting worse every year. For people in the global majority, extreme weather events (hurricanes, wildfires, flooding) and slow onset events (rising sea levels, desertification) are destroying lives, livelihoods and biodiversity. Meanwhile, those who cause the climate crisis get richer.

Whether you consider it solidarity, compensation, or reparations, we know hundreds of billions a year are needed – and that money must come from those who caused the crisis.

Together, we will share our hopes that our government commits funding to support those affected by loss and damage. Anyone can join the Weekend of Worship by planning a moment of reflection with your faith community within the days of Friday 25th to Sunday 27th October.

Sign up to join the Weekend of Worship to stay up to date with resources, plans, and other ways to show your support for action on loss and damage.

If you are able to reach London, you are also invited to join the London vigil on the 29th October.
